Slowly but surely over the course of decades, once-respected American institutions have been taken over by left-wing counter-revolutionaries who use them not for their intended purpose but as political platforms aimed at shredding our constitutional system.
The American Medical Association is one such organization that used to be respected but now has become nothing more than a Marxist shill for big statist government, as evidenced by the group’s insistence that businesses ignore a recent Supreme Court ruling and implement a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all workers — in violation of the AMA’s own code of ethics, according to a recent analysis.
The AMA’s president, Gerald E. Harmon, M.D., wrote in Crain’s Chicago Business that employers ought to require a COVID vaccine as a condition of employment, though no other vaccine requirement, like, say, a flu vaccine, has ever been required in order to have a job in America.
Though SCOTUS invalidated the Brandon regime’s effort to force companies with 100 or more workers to either get a vaccine or be required to test negative for the virus weekly in order to keep their jobs, that “should not prevent these employers from doing what must be done in the name of public health: requiring vaccines to protect their workers, our communities and our nation from the ravages of this pandemic.”
“Our only hope is that large employers do what’s right—not only for their own employees and their families, but for the health of our nation,” Harmon wrote, despite the fact that 1) the vaccines are not preventing infections; and 2) the vaccines themselves have been shown to contain harmful foreign objects.
“If only we could hope that Harmon and his association would honor their own code of ethics,” Mark Glennon wrote at Wirepoints.
The AMA’s Code of Medical Ethics Opinion 2.1.1 says:
Informed consent to medical treatment is fundamental in both ethics and law. Patients have the right to receive information and ask questions about recommended treatments so that they can make well-considered decisions about care. Successful communication in the patient-physician relationship fosters trust and supports shared decision making. The process of informed consent occurs when communication between a patient and physician results in the patient’s authorization or agreement to undergo a specific medical intervention.
“That’s a plain statement of the informed consent doctrine, which is among the most widely recognized and time-honored principles of medical ethics here and abroad. Everybody of sufficient age and sound mind is supposed to have the right to decide what is to be done to his or her body,” Glennon noted.
But in fact, when it comes to COVID-19, Americans are not being given the choice of whether or not they want to be vaccinated. What’s more, thanks to the propagandist mainstream media and social media platforms, any attempt to disseminate factual information that goes against the regime’s COVID narratives is censored.
“The AMA’s Code of Ethics is for physicians, not employers, but that’s precisely what makes Harmon’s indifference to the principle of informed consent so egregious. He is effectively calling on employers to override the physician-patient relationship entirely, thereby avoiding the duty physicians would have to honor it,” Glennon notes further.
“That workaround may not fly legally since employers may have a legal duty to get informed consent to coerced vaccinations, at least as some mandate opponents see things.”
There is no ‘informed consent’ when it comes to COVID-19; ‘take the vaccine, shut up about it, and stop being an individualist or we will punish you.’ Period. Full stop.
While the big corporate American media has long lost its credibility as fair arbiters of information, the AMA’s regime conformity is fairly recent. That its own president would so blatantly disregard a core medical principle tells you just how far the organization has strayed from its founding.
It’s not about the good practices of medicine anymore; the AMA has become just another mouthpiece org for the counter-cultural revolutionaries within our society.
